With Spring around the corner, we’re ready to jazz up this season with more dancing! To make it even better, we will be having Clyde Wilder all the way from the US with us for the entire month of April! Here’s what we have for you:
Lindy Hop and Blues Workshop with Clyde Wilder:
Dancer, choreographer Clyde Wilder’s work shop digs into African-American cultural history and explores its central dance forms: lindy hop, swing and blues.
The focal point in Mr. Wilder’s teaching is introducing the students with the language of jazz, as well as helping them to find a balanced way of moving in relation to both music, their dance partner and their own body.
The work shop is focused on partner dancing, but no own dance partner, nor former background in dancing is needed.
Mr. Wilder is a well-established dancer, dance instructor and choreographer, who has performed e.g. with Norma Miller, Frankie Manning, Count Basie and Stevie Wonder. In addition to his dance group Harlem Swingers, which displays traditional African-American dances he is also the artistic director of Message from Our Ancestors, a traditional West African ensemble.
Still wondering about the workshop? Well, just come on over and try it out for yourself! You can also click here to see what participants of previous workshops have to say.
